When you import your floor plans into ArchiCAD the scale of the drawing will not match the scale of the ArchiCAD file. Therefore, you must determine to what percentage the floor plan needs to be scaled by.
You will need two pieces of information in order to calculate this percentage:
1. The measurement of a room from the picture of the floor plan. Try to select a room that is square or rectangular.
2. The measurement of the room using the ArchiCAD line tool.
Please note, when you are doing these calculations, you must convert the inches to a decimal.
Once you have the percentage you will be using, you are ready to re-size the floor plan so that it is the proper scale.
1. Select your arrow tool in the tool box.
2. Click once on your floor plan picture. It will be shaded green.
3. Using the EDIT menu, select RESHAPE and then select RESIZE. (The keyboard short cut is: apple K)
4. Take the check mark off "Define Graphically".
5. Enter your percentage in the last box at the top. Replace 100% with the percentage that you calculated.
6. Click OK on the window.
7. Hit RETURN on your keyboard.
Check your work. Zoom back in on the room you measured. Use the line tool to measure the room again. If it is off by three inches or more, you should re-size again.
To make it just a little bit smaller, use 99% or 98% in the re-size window.
To make it just a little bit bigger, use 101% or 102% in the re-size window.
